Oral Cancer Screening

Dental Education.jpg

Oral cancer screening is a quick, painless exam performed by a dentist or healthcare provider to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in the mouth. Detecting oral cancer early greatly increases the chances of successful treatment and can potentially save lives. During a screening, your provider will examine your lips, tongue, gums, cheeks, and throat for any unusual sores, lumps, or changes in color or texture. People who use tobacco, consume alcohol heavily, or have a history of oral cancer are at higher risk and should get screened regularly. Even if you have no symptoms, routine screenings are an important step in maintaining your overall health.
